Explanation of Reason for Procedures

In the middle of March 2020, the United States District Court for the Eastern District of California entered a general courthouse closing the courthouse for all visitors for the foreseeable future. Normally, 341 meetings of creditors were conducted at the courthouse. Because they are required by law, some notices are still going out to all parties in each new case filed notifying them of a 341 meeting date and stating that the location will be the courthouse. Until the Covid-19 situation has been resolved and the courthouse opened, however, those meetings will not be held at the courthouse. If your notice indicated it to be held at the Courthouse, a second notice will be going out to all parties providing that meeting will be held telephonically, by Bridge line or other means. It will either provide you with a number to call and an access code, or a web site to contact for meeting information. The information on this website is an explanation of how the meetings on that second notice will be conducted. The Bankruptcy Court has issued an order extending all deadlines that normally run from the 341 meeting of creditors.

These are unusual times and we are endeavoring to make this work as best as possible. We will try to exercise patience with you and we ask that you be patient with us as we work to help you meet the requirement of appearing at a 341 meeting of creditors.

If you run into any problems or issues with appearing at your 341 meeting of creditors during this time, please send an e-mail to [email protected] or call Kendra at 1-559-230-1095. It will be preferred, and quicker, if you use e-mail.
